How Saunas Australia researches sauna brands
We compare Australian sauna brands the same way a careful buyer should: dated public prices, install and electrical paths, warranty labour, Australian contact detail, and the evidence behind marketing claims. This page is the standard behind every profile and shortlist on the site.
Last site research day: 27 Oct 2026 (Australia/Sydney). Individual brand profiles show their own stamp. When a profile still carries an earlier date, treat that as the date of the detailed check, not a claim that nothing has changed since.
What this site is for
Saunas Australia helps Australian buyers shortlist before they talk to a seller. We do not sell saunas, install them, certify products or regulate the market. We do not publish paid rankings. A brand cannot buy a better grade or a higher shortlist position.
There is no single “best” sauna for every home. Heat type, power, space, freight and aftercare change the answer. Our job is to make those differences easier to see, with sources you can check.
What we record on every brand profile
- Published AUD prices and model ranges on the review date, with clear notes when pricing is enquiry-led
- Heat types and formats (infrared, traditional, outdoor, hybrid, custom or commercial where offered)
- Australian business identity where we can confirm it (ABN and public contact details)
- Showrooms, partner displays, phone, email and stated shipping or install paths
- Warranty headlines plus labour, freight, outdoor and commercial limits when those appear in public documents
- Delivery, assembly and electrical requirements published for the models we cite
- Public review snapshots with the date and sample size we saw
- Marketing claims (materials, EMF, health, origin, performance) and whether independent evidence was found for the specific claim
Evidence hierarchy
Independent, product-specific and current primary evidence carries the most weight. Brand pages tell us what a brand says. They do not, on their own, prove the claim.
- Primary records: ABN Lookup, regulator notices, certificate registers, signed laboratory reports with model or component scope, manufacturer manuals.
- Brand primary pages: current product, warranty, shipping and contact pages on the brand’s own site, dated when we checked them.
- Independent consumer reviews: ProductReview and similar, reported as snapshots with date and count, not as proof of a single model.
- Brand-controlled comparisons or testimonials: useful as first-party marketing, not as independent verification.
Laboratory or EMF reports are read for the tested item, method, instrument, distance, operating state, date and limits. A panel test is not a whole-cabin test. A logo is not a certificate. Health language is not medical advice.
Evidence statuses we use
- Verified: strong evidence directly supports the specific claim.
- Partially verified: evidence supports only part of the claim or a narrower scope.
- Not independently verified: the brand makes the claim, but we have not found enough independent evidence. This does not automatically mean the claim is false.
- Contradicted: reliable evidence conflicts with the specific claim.
- Awaiting response: we have asked for clarification or documents.
How shortlists are built
We group brands by buyer situation: format breadth, entry price, metro install packaging, premium infrared path, custom or commercial traditional work, and so on.
When one brand appears first in a “start here” line, that reflects published facts that matter for that situation. Examples of strengths we cite when the public record supports them:
- Australian contact channels and named showroom or partner displays
- Published warranty and aftercare language that buyers can open before paying
- Public AUD pricing across a clear model range
- Documented shipping or install paths
- Independent test material that states its real scope (for example a heater panel report, not a whole installed cabin)
The same bar applies to every brand, including any brand that looks strong on those points. Catch lines and watch-outs stay on the page so a shortlist does not become a sales script.
Dates, refresh and what “checked” means
Every profile should show a research or checked date. Prices, stock, promos and warranty pages move. A stamp means we recorded what was public on that day. It does not freeze the market.
When we refresh a brand, we re-open the official site, update price bands where we can observe them, and note what we could not reconfirm. Older stamps stay visible until that brand is restamped.
Brand-controlled reviews and comparisons
A comparison, review or testimonial is not treated as independent when a featured brand owns, controls, commissions or materially supports the publisher. Relevant commercial relationships are recorded when evidence is available. Brand control does not make every statement false; it changes the weight we give it. Our reading follows the ACCC guidance on independent reviews and disclosure.
Limits
- We are not hands-on testing every cabin in every climate.
- Missing public evidence is not proof that a claim is false.
- Cabin sticker prices are not installed totals. Freight, base work, assembly and electrical work sit on top. See the cost guide.
- This site is general research, not electrical, building, medical, legal or financial advice. Confirm the exact model, circuit, warranty document and delivery scope in writing before you pay a deposit. Use the deposit checklist.
Corrections and contact
Documented corrections are welcome. Material accepted corrections are recorded. Brands can use the right of reply process for significant findings. Read the corrections policy, the About page, or email hello@saunasaustralia.com.
