Traditional electric heaters commonly need a dedicated circuit and a licensed electrician. Some outdoor infrared models publish a 15A requirement. Some compact infrared cabins publish 10A plug in use, still subject to the manual and the existing circuit load.
Planning note for buyers:
- New dedicated circuit and connection: often a four figure job once cable route, protection and wall make good are included
- Switchboard or service upgrade: only when the existing board cannot take the load; this is where budgets jump hard
- Long cable runs, outdoor trenching, occupied finished rooms: more again

A backyard sauna is a small construction job. Budget for a level load bearing base, drainage away from timber, weather detailing the warranty accepts, and a realistic access path for the delivery truck. Coastal sun, sprinklers and leaf litter shorten coating cycles. “Outdoor” on a product title is not a complete specification. - Infrared: often lower draw and longer gentle sessions
- Traditional electric: higher draw, usually shorter sessions
