What cabin prices currently tell you

Our recorded public prices, checked 7 August 2026, show infrared entry points from about A$1,895 and traditional entry points from about A$3,599. These are cabin or package observations—not promises of a usable installed sauna. Premium and custom packages extend beyond A$15,000, with some traditional/custom SDS configurations recorded above A$40,000.

Build the number you can actually approve

Complete project cost = cabin/package + freight + placement + assembly + site/base work + electrical or flue work + required accessories + approvals + a contingency.

• Sauna cabin and selected timber or finish
• Heater, controller, rocks, guards, flue and accessories where not included
• Freight, unloading, difficult-access delivery and insurance
• Foundation, drainage, weather protection and ventilation
• Assembly or carpentry
• Dedicated circuit, isolation, hardwiring and possible switchboard work
• Permits or approvals where applicable
• Maintenance coatings and warranty costs the written terms exclude

A useful budget rule

Do not spend the entire budget on the cabin. Until written quotes prove otherwise, keep a separate allowance for all non-cabin work. If a seller cannot identify those exclusions, treat the advertised price as a lead—not a comparable offer.

What should assembly cost?

Planning allowance only: allow A$400–A$700 for straightforward indoor panel-cabin assembly and A$1,000–A$2,000 for a larger, heavier or traditional prefabricated cabin when the seller does not publish a price. These are editorial allowances, not a Kitset, brand or installer quote.

Published examples show why exact scope matters: SDS lists A$500 for infrared assembly and A$1,100–A$2,760 across traditional tiers; Glow lists A$1,500; Nordic Wellness lists A$1,950; and Nook advertises A$0 additional installation in eligible included service areas. Kitset Assembly Services uses the selected product and postcode to estimate the job rather than publishing a fixed sauna tariff.

• Confirm whether the boxes are already at the final position or must be carried through the property.
• Confirm stairs, narrow access, regional travel, packaging removal and rubbish disposal.
• Exclude site preparation, weather protection and electrical work unless the written quote expressly includes them.
• For a traditional electric sauna, obtain a separate licensed-electrician quote for the heater, controls and circuit.

Make three quotes comparable

Ask every finalist for the same scope: delivered to the actual postcode, moved to the final position, assembled, electrically connected or flued, commissioned and ready to use. Require the quote to mark each item as included, excluded or buyer-supplied.

Decision: compare the ready-to-use totals. If the preferred model exceeds the ceiling, reduce size or complexity before changing to an unknown low-price seller.
