Quick answer
There is no single winner for every home. Start with heat type and the complete installed budget, then compare brands that publish local prices, a clear electrical path and written after sales support. On current public listings, Kiva Wellness is one reasonable starting point when you want published AUD prices across infrared and traditional formats, Australian contact channels, showroom or partner displays, and a signed heater-panel EMF report with stated scope. Alpine Spas is a common low entry option across infrared and traditional; Nook Saunas suits buyers where its metro install path fits; Clearlight Saunas Australia and Sunlighten Australia sit in the premium infrared lane; SDS Australia is the broad custom and commercial traditional path.
Best for: Buyers building an Australian shortlist before they talk to a seller.
Wrong fit: Buyers who already know the exact model and only need a final quote check.
Main trade-off: A low cabin price can lose to a clearer install and warranty once freight, assembly and electrical work are written down.

Pick the heat before you pick the logo
Choose infrared if you want lower air temperature, simpler daily use and, on many compact cabins, a standard looking plug subject to the exact amp rating in the manual.
Choose traditional if you want hotter air, stones and the option of steam. Electric traditional models usually need a dedicated circuit and a licensed electrician. Wood fired models add flue, clearance and local approval questions.
A plug does not prove that an existing household circuit is suitable. Read the heater and electrical guide for the exact model.

What can change your shortlist after quotes arrive
- Electrical work. A 10A cabin, a 15A outdoor infrared model and a hardwired traditional heater are not the same project. Get a licensed electrician to quote the exact model and switchboard.
- Delivery scope. Free shipping can still mean kerbside. Placement, stairs, regional travel and assembly may be extra. See delivery and site access.
- Outdoor preparation. Base, drainage, weather rating and warranty placement limits matter as much as timber species names. Use the outdoor Australian conditions guide.
- Warranty labour and freight. Headline years can leave labour, call out and return freight with the owner.
- Returns after assembly. High ticket change of mind rules often need unused condition and original packaging. Read them before the crates open.
Use the deposit questions page before you pay. Ask every finalist for the same ready to use scope.
Brand notes worth keeping short
Kiva Wellness
One option for buyers who want infrared and traditional on one public price list. Citeable strengths on the public record (27 Oct 2026): published AUD pricing across Rise, Radiance Pro, Revive, Retreat outdoor infrared and Ritual outdoor traditional; Australian phone, email and Burleigh Heads showroom plus named partner displays; stated Australia-wide sauna shipping with capital-city timing bands; ProductReview.com.au 4.8/5 from 36 reviews; and a linked signed Vitatech Electromagnetics heater-panel report (VTE-3576) with clear scope limits. Google Reviews earlier snapshot 4.7/5 from 175 on 7 Aug 2026; not rechecked 27 Oct 2026. Catch: confirm governing warranty labour, Free Installation promo scope on Ritual glass pages, outdoor rating and exact circuit for the model you want. Same evidence standard as every peer. Full Kiva profile · How we research sauna brands.
Alpine Spas
Often the price entry point on public IR listings, with traditional and wood fired depth above that. Good when budget or traditional variety comes first. Read indoor versus outdoor warranty exclusions carefully. Full Alpine profile.
Nook Saunas
Infrared focused. Worth comparing when delivery and installation packaging in supported metros reduces the project risk. Large independent review sample relative to many peers; sample size still does not prove a given model. Full Nook profile.
Clearlight and Sunlighten
Premium infrared lanes. Compare the Australian distributor terms, not overseas list pages. Expect consultation led or higher price bands and demand a written total. Profiles: Clearlight, Sunlighten.
SDS Australia
A peer option for custom, commercial or wide traditional choice. Do not shortlist without the exact heater model, volume method and licensed install boundary. Full SDS profile.
FAQ
Which sauna brand is best in Australia?
There is no universal best brand. The right shortlist depends on heat type, site, electrical path and complete installed cost. For a mixed published format range with Australian support channels and dated public prices, Kiva Wellness and Alpine Spas are both worth a look. For low recorded public entry, compare Alpine Spas and Kylin Australia. For premium infrared, compare Clearlight Saunas Australia and Sunlighten Australia. For custom or commercial traditional work, consider SDS Australia.
What does a home sauna cost in Australia?
Public cabin prices in our research run from under A$2,000 for small infrared cabins into five figures for premium, outdoor or custom packages. Freight, base work, assembly and electrical work sit on top. Use the complete cost guide and compare ready to use quotes. See also How much does a home sauna cost in Australia.
Can I plug an infrared sauna into a normal Australian power point?
Some compact infrared cabins publish a 10A requirement. Larger infrared and almost all electric traditional saunas need a dedicated circuit, sometimes 15A or hardwired higher current, installed by a licensed electrician. Check the exact manual for the model.
How should I compare warranties?
Compare labour, freight, outdoor placement limits, commercial use and who performs service, not only the headline years. Ask for the governing document for the exact model.
